Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling hall gambling is illegal. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally tiny space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent destination, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a number of limitations requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; however, investment sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and even though visas are allegedly needed to pass, there are methods around this, as is correct of many border crossings.
The 1st Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau gambling den, contains 150 slot machine games and sixty tables. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred one armed bandits and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel complex that highlights many amenities on top of the gambling den, which provides ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 tables.
